March Update


School is kicking my ass

March is halfway done and the final stretch of the school semester is here. Due to the WONDERS of cluttered online education and the stress and panic of balancing a seemingly bottomless pit of debt on how well you can write useless code, there isn't much to share on the game at the moment.

HOWEVER, there is still some pretty rad stuff id like to share and talk about so if you care about this project please read on. 

I have spent the spare time that I have working on key animations for cut-scenes and other fancy visual elements as the engine for the game is essentially complete at this point (for now, unless I decide to go back and make it slicker or something down the line). In other news I have managed to also coerce another unsuspecting victim to help out with the visuals, allowing the project to get prettier AND let me get things done faster. While some of these visuals look AWESOME and are essentially complete, I will not be sharing any of them quite yet, as I want to save screenshots and most promotions for a date closer to release. This leads me into the next topic; A new trailer.

Some of you (6 people as far as I'm aware... nice!!) have noticed, the previous blog post held a clue leading towards a mysterious little website with some fun little puzzles and mini-games for people to uncover. As most of you are aware, the further you make it into the website the closer you will get to unlocking cool secret lore, artwork, and even a fancy special secret trailer. To the six of you that are working on it, fantastic job! Thanks to the usage of logins and other stuff, the website has proven to have diverging paths and watching the progress happen has been fantastic so far. People like you are the reason I love to make this stuff so keep it up! (The current puzzle is crazy I know, but a team is really close to completing it so just hang in there).  This website has created a fun little way for me to also gauge the interest in the game world and has helped me a lot with the project. Thank you!

On the topic of trailers however, I began working on a fancy extra long trailer of the game back in December, which then evolved into 3 different versions, which then split further and further into multiple potential drafts and edits for providing an ACTUAL glimpse into the game, rather than the cryptic mood piece which was the original teaser trailer. I plan on dropping this behemoth of a video when the game is ready to be released so that I can end it with an awesome (final) release date card at the end. The real problem with working on these trailers however is how difficult music is. I stink at making music and I have reached the point of giving up on making it on my own. This has lead me on the hunt for any producer or individual who can make music that could work with the game AND not charge me a million bucks for licensing or something. This is a real pain in the bum BUT I am currently chasing a certain lead which might lead to an absolute BANGER of a soundtrack, so I'll be sure to keep this blog updated if that becomes fruitful or not. 


On a final note, I have more tricks up my sleeve so keep your eyes open in the coming weeks. Pay particular attention to a particularly foolish day which is coming up.
